Improving Montana's safety culture.

Growing a Safer Montana

Did you know Montana is among the highest in the nation in workplace accidents and fatalities? The high accident ranking is believed to be a symptom of Montana’s safety culture. Growing a Safer Montana (GSM) is our two-part initiative, designed to improve Montana’s workplace safety culture through the education of young workers.

School Safety Equipment Awards

The first part of GSM is a grant program for personal protective equipment (PPE) for Montana middle and high school industrial arts programs.

College Scholarships

The second part of GSM is a scholarship program for higher education focused on students entering occupational safety and health, industrial hygiene or trades and industrial studies. Growing a Safer Montana etches the importance of workplace safety into the minds of students before they enter Montana’s workforce, thereby helping make Montana a safer and healthier place to live, work and do business.
